Kississippi shimmers on new single “Last Time”

There will definitely be no shortage when it comes to music this summer, as indie-pop star Zoe Reynolds, known on stage as Kississippi, announces her upcoming EP damned if i do it for you, set to be released July 26. In addition to the exciting news, listeners can now get a sneak peek through a new single “Last Time,” an irresistible song about the aching pains that come with saying goodbye.

The inspiration for this latest release came after the Philadelphia-based singer had a run-in with an ex-partner at a gig. “As I took the stage with only a drum machine and mic, it hit me that I was essentially doing karaoke to these songs about unrequited love, knowing that the person I wrote them about was in the next room with someone else,” she shares. Despite the wistful lyrics and lovelorn feelings, “Last Time” brings a vibrant, high-energy rhythm that can only be described as an instant mood booster.

What begins as an exasperated cry through the verses with words like “Don’t know how it got this far, soft ghost in the blue light / I don’t wanna dance no more, it’s not worth it” builds up to a bold comeback as Kississippi chants “K-I-S-S, split lip and your tongue is tied / K-I-S-S, you can kiss my ass goodbye.” It’s a bittersweet melody perfect for the dancefloor that leaves you wanting more.

Between now and the EP’s release, you can catch Kississippi along the West Coast cities including Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, and Los Angeles on tour with indie musician talker. View more details and the full list of dates here.
