Niall Horan returns with new heartfelt single “Heaven”

After several months of anticipation and dozens of viral TikTok teasers, Niall Horan’s new single “Heaven” is finally here and it’s bound to sweep you off your feet.
Running just over 3 minutes, the track opens harmoniously with Horan’s vocals; setting up the dreamy atmosphere. The verses illustrate moments of deep desire, steadily moving along to the beat with lovestruck lyrics like “Your touch is made of something / Heaven can’t hold a candle to,” and “Beyond infatuation / How I obsessively adore you / That’s what I do.” Once you reach the highly infectious chorus, it almost feels euphoric as Horan wholeheartedly professes his infatuation. If “Heaven” isn’t the most perfect Valentine’s Day anthem, then I don’t know what is.
Prior to its February 17 release, Horan detailed further meaning behind the song in a press release: “One thing I’ve learned over the years is that society loves to pressure us into reaching certain milestones by a certain age. Whether that’s getting married or anything else that really should be based on our own instincts. As I’ve gotten older I’ve tried to let go of those expectations and just follow my heart. The chorus of this song is saying that what I have in my life currently is amazing. So it would be crazy to ruin that by giving into outside pressures.”
“Heaven” not only marks Horan first new solo release in nearly 3 years, but it’s also the first single off of his next full-length record, The Show, expected to drop on June 9. This all came announced on Twitter to many fans’ delight where he shared his excitement, “This album is a piece of work I’m so proud of and now it’s time to pass it over to you to go and make it your own…Thank you so much for being there for me all this time and I can’t wait to share the next couple of years of this new era with you…Welcome to ‘The Show’.”
While we eagerly wait for the rest of the album, fans can expect to see the singer-songwriter make appearances at multiple festivals this summer including Boston Calling, Lollapalooza Paris, Electric Picnic, and more.
